All portable propane/butane gas tanks and portable fuel tanks must be removed or emptied by order of the Fire Marshall (Reference NFPA, Chapter 5, paragraph 5100). An exception is made for containers of 2 1/2 lbs. and under, not exceeding 24 containers. Please note that storage for “5th wheel” travel trailers and semi-tractors cannot be accommodated in any buildings. The storage department does NOT provide in/out storage for indoor items. Once a unit is stored inside, it is considered to be in dead storage. There are significant charges if a unit has to be removed before the scheduled move-out date.
Vehicles are stored on assigned dates in the fall and are removed from storage on specified dates in the spring. All removal dates are scheduled in late April to minimize the moving of your vehicle. If you cannot keep your removal appointment, there will be a charge of $25 for each additional day we store your unit.
When storing a motorized vehicle such as a car, motor home, or truck, you must provide a complete set of keys to the storage department. No units may be stored on blocks, and tires must remain intact; radiator antifreeze should not be drained from any unit in storage. All units must be movable, and batteries may not be removed from any car, truck, or motor home. Additionally, boat motors should be positioned for adequate clearance for safe movement in and out of storage.
The storage department requires a phone number on file where you can be contacted in case of an emergency. The department reserves the right to place units in locations deemed most appropriate. Since all storage locations are unheated, your unit must be properly winterized.
It is the customer’s responsibility to carry insurance on the stored unit. Heinen’s Storage assumes no responsibility for any loss, damage, vandalism, destruction, or lack of security for property placed in storage. All units will be measured from “tip to tip”, including the tongue on trailers, which may not match your title card. The storage department also recommends that you cover your vehicle.
